“A career in speech-language pathology challenges you to use your intellect (the talents of your mind) in combination with your humanity (the gifts in your heart) to do meaningful work that feeds your soul… I am proud to be a member of what I consider to be the best profession on earth.” – Megan Hodge
Welcome and hello! You have found the “North Star SLP,” a speech language therapy blog for my fellow speech language pathologists as well as other educators who are as passionate as I am working in the educational setting. My name is Erin, and I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist working in the Twin Cities area.
I live in the lovely Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota, with my husband, Brandon, and crazy dog, Gunner! Our family grew by one this new year as our daughter made her appearance early in the new year being the first baby born at the hospital for 2019! She is absolutely adorable (if I do say so myself), and we are so blessed!
Working in this profession where we are changing the world one world at a time and giving people voices is, in my opinion, the best profession in the world! I absolutely love my job, and there is no doubt that I picked the absolute right profession for me. But however, I feel like not many people know about what we do or about our profession. At times I get asked about what a speech language pathologist does, most people think we work with kids on their /r/, /s/, and /l/. However, although this may be the case at times, we as speech-language pathologists do so much more than that! It is my goal to provide education and information to those who may not know what speech-language pathologists can do as well as to come up with unique and creative therapy ideas to make our students continue to communicate to their full potential and reach their goals! I am so happy you found me, and I hope that you can use the information on this blog at take it back to your therapy room or classroom.
Before you go, here’s a little bit more about me!
- I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for both my undergraduate and Master’s degree. (Go Bulldogs!) Duluth is fabulous, and I miss it everyday.
- I could not be where I am today if it weren’t for my awesome family!
- I love everything about Minnesota… the outdoors, the people, the places, and the seasons, but I also love to travel, golf, and spend time at the lake cabin!
Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note: I am happy to help others out, but I am very passionate about what I do and the children whom I work with. I encourage you to use my images or ideas as long as you credit me and my blog. Thank you!
